Godfrey Guinan was born and raised in West London, England to a Sri Lankan father and Portuguese mother. His father's vocation as a motor mechanic inspired Godfrey's interest and fascination for cars and motorbikes which eventually developed into track racing. This adrenaline fuelled curiosity led him to become a martial artist, snowboarding instructor, SCUBA diver and qualified skydiver.
He left school at the age of eighteen choosing not to pursue a degree in physics and to work as a software developer. However at the age of twenty five he felt his career was stifled and decided to invigorate it by going to University to read Computer Science. Two weeks after graduating he was on a plane which embarked a round the world journey travelling through Asia, Australasia and the U.S. for a year.
Upon return from his travels he worked as a freelance software engineer for various companies. It was within one of these companies that he met Barri Costello who asked him to audition for the part of The Salesman, the devil in disguise, in the short film The Lion's Skin. From this point onwards he got the acting bug and went on to stage work and further study of acting.
It was at a drama school local to Godfrey that he met D.J.Taylor where they both appeared in a production of Alan Bennett's Habeas Corpus as Dr. Arthur Wicksteed and Canon Throbbing respectively. They became good friends and the pair of them auditioned and were successful in gaining a place at London's prestigious East 15 acting school. They both graduated from East 15 with a Master's degree in acting after which they went on to form the production company, Urban Street Productions and made both a feature and short film. The feature, Urban Decay won an award of excellence at the Canadian International Film Festival 2016 while the short, Environmental Products was shortlisted at the British Urban Film Festival 2016.
